PRINCESS is estimated to be about 2 years old and a beagle/chihuahua mix; however, she really looks like she could have JRT and/or Bassett in her too. Here is Princesses story: she was living with a lady, several smaller dogs, cats and a ferret. Unfortunately, we learned that Princess probably witnessed a bigger dog viciously attack a small chihuahua while in her home. This has left Princess with trauma and she does not get along with dogs bigger than her. She has resided in a foster home with smaller dogs, but at this point, her ideal home would be where she can be the only dog. She loves people and is a sweet heart. She is fearful of bigger dogs and reacts aggressively due to her trauma.
Princess is low to moderate energy but does get really excited when she is being fed and when going for a walk. Princess is about 20 lbs; she is UTD on vaccines, HW negative, micro-chipped, and spay. She was uninterested in the cat in the foster home. Princess rides well in the car and enjoys sitting up front in the passengers seat. She is house trained, is very loving and enjoys adult attention. Princess loves to roll in the grass, give kisses and go for walks. She walks pretty good on a leash and knows the sit command. Princess is easily corrected and responds to directions. She has shown signs of territorial behavior when with bigger dogs. She has been fine with dogs smaller than her. Princess would do best in a home where she is the only dog. She has been through so much that she seems to need a home of her very own. Colt 2 - 3 year old chihuahua. UTD on vaccines, HW negative, micro-chipped, and neutered. He's a little guy, about 9 lbs. Sweet but timid at first but warmed up quickly; gets along with small dogs. Crate trained. Colt uses a belly band to help him with not pottying in the house as he is learning the routine still. Colt and Delta get along well. If looking for two little ones, they are already buddies. He will be at the adoption shows until he is adopted. Please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete an application if you are interested in adopting Colt.
Delta is a sweet little girl who was found as a stray with another chihuahua. No one claimed her. It's hard to believe the owners would not claim her as she is a good dog. She is about 12 lbs of pure joy. She is timid at first but once she warms up, she loves people and gets along with little dogs when off leash. Delta does appear to get frustrated meeting other dogs when on leash. Although she has done well in her foster home while being crated, we were told she cried for awhile when in a condo alone. Delta would do best in a home with either another dog or a house where making noise won't be an issue. She isn't a big barker but she does bark when she hears noises. Delta loves her foster buddy Colt; they are ready made buddies if you are looking for two little ones. She is fully vetted. If interested in adopting Delta, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. All applicants must live in Illinois and within approximately 50 miles from the Bartlett area.
Dew Drop is a sweet little dog who loves people and gets along with little dogs. She was thought to be older than she really is due to the condition of her teeth. After further assessment, it appears that Dew Drop is about 6 years old and appears to have been a liter mate of Key West. She is scheduled for spay and dental on 8/28 but otherwise fully vetted. She came in with Rain and was thought to be a bonded pair. However, once Rain started feeling better as they had upper respiratory infections, Rain showed severe jealousy towards Dew Drop and it wasn't fair to Dew Drop to keep them together. DD is now in a foster home with four other little dogs and doing well. DD is easy to correct and will reward the family that loves her with love and affection. She has begun to play with the other dogs after less than 24 hours. DD is a dog who wants to have fun and be loved. She is submissive and rolls over and gives her belly. Once you get DD on your schedule, she is good about using potty pads when needed. If interested in adopting DD, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. A meet and greet will be scheduled at that time. We would love to have her in her new home before her dental and spay surgery so the new family has that opportunity to bond with her during her healing process.
Rain was found as a stray with DewDrop. They were thought to be a bonded pair until Rain started feeling better. Rain showed severe jealousy with Dew Drop, so they have been separated. Rain seems to be enjoying being the only dog in the home now. She is scheduled for her dental and spay on 8/28 but is otherwise fully vetted. We would love for Rain to be in her forever homme before the surgery, so that person/family can have the opportunity to bond during her healing process. Ideal home would be with Rain being the only dog and preferrable a single person or couple with no children under teenage years. If interested in Rain, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. We will set up a meet and greet for you at that time.
Keywest is a 6 year old male, black chihuahua. He was found as a stray the day after the two senior chihuahuas were found. His owner never claimed him either. It is possible he is one of Dewdrop's pup from a previous litter as they look a lot alike and the owners of the three dogs all had the same last name. If interested in adopting Keywest, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Applicants must live in Illinois and within approximately 50 miles of the Bartlett area. If interested in fostering Keywest, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/foster-application/ and complete the foster application.
