CHRISTMAS EVE PUP DOB 12/24/2016
BEAN, MALE, BLIND SHIH TZU/POODLE

Designer dog purchased at Fur Babies in Stratford to owners who neglected him to the point that he is Blind and couldn't be touch by humans for awhile! The foster mom has had him since March and Bean has come into his own. He does well with other dogs once introduced. He has even let people, other than his foster mom, pick him up without incident! Here's Bean's letter to his new family.

Hello. My name is Bean. I am a handsome pup who's looking for my forever home. I was surrendered by my owners last March. They did not treat my cataracts, so we will never know if any of my sight could have been saved. As a result of lack of treatment, I am blind. I am with my foster mom and have other doggie siblings (all small dogs) that I get along with just fine. At first, my siblings didn’t understand why I would accidentally bump into walls, couches, and even them. However, I’ve adjusted very quickly to my environment and get around with no problems. I can even do stairs, but I need to learn where they are and be protected from accidentally falling down them. I LOVE my walks around the neighborhood. I navigate the sidewalks and only need some guidance at the curbs! I wasn’t socialized, so I don’t like to meet dogs on walks. I need time to get to know them. I also need time to get to know people with whom I haven’t met. PLEASE go slowly and be patient with me. Quick movements or picking me up before I know who you are can be very scary to me. Remember, I’m blind. I don’t know if you’re going to hug me or hurt me. Once I know I can trust you, I am a sweet and docile little guy. I want to be in your presence and tend to follow you around. I like to lay on your lap or next to you while you watch TV. I will sit at your feet while you work or check emails. If you allow it, I enjoy sleeping at the foot of the bed so I can get morning belly rubs. My ideal home would be one without young children. I get along with other dogs just fine, but I need time to get to know them. I am a senior dog who would love to have an active adult or senior person/couple; that would be a wonderful fit for me. I need a family that understands I have special needs and is willing to work with me. I want a family who loves me, so I can return the love, tenfold.

If interested in adopting me, please go https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/, and complete an application for me. In the meantime, please follow me and other adoptable dogs at SAIN Rescue on Facebook and Instagram.

Love, Bean

Best if Applicants live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.

IDEAL HOME: Adopter who lives in a single family home due to Bean's apparent separation anxiety. This will allow the family to work on solutions to his separation anxiety while not receiving noise complaints. Bean has not shown separation anxiety in his foster home but there are other dogs present in the home when the humans leave.

Boomer est dob 10/31/2024 Chiweenie

Southern boy that came in with his litter mate Boom

Hi everyone, my name is Boomer. I came to SAIN Rescue from Kentucky. I was found abandoned in a home with my litter mate. No one knows how long we were alone and on our own. I sure am glad I'm in a warm, safe home, warm blankets, good food and water and lots of company. I was scared at first, but only for a very very short time. My foster mom and the volunteers showed me so much love and affection, I relaxed quickly. I am in a home with other dogs, some smaller, some bigger and some about the same size and I get along with all of them. I am a puppy as I am still under 2 years old, so I need help learning what I can chew on or "collect" because I tend to collect shoes LOL. I love my kongsickles. If you don't know what those are, my foster mom can let you know. I love to eat ice too. I am playful, loves my toys and balls. I really would like a fenced in yard because I LOVE to run around and play fetch, that was before it snowed. Oh, did someone say Snow? I love the snow. It doesn't stop me from running around in it. I can play independently. I think I would like a doggie buddy. I am almost completely housetrained. My foster mom uses a belly band on me and most times, it is dry. If I do have an accident, the belly band catches it and there is no mess. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, someone will contact you. You must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett. See you soon.

SOUTHERN BOY LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER FAMILY Harlow est dob 7/23/24 Aussie Shepherd X

Was living outside in Kentucky and survived the extreme weather.

Southern charm with beautiful blue eyes. Harlow was living outside in the winter in Kentucky when SAIN was able to rescue him from that situation. Harlow is gentle with all dogs of all sizes that he has met. Harlow is crate trained as that is his safe place. Harlow is also housetrained. He doesn’t like to meet new dogs on leash but when in the backyard, he gets really excited, like “Yay, I have another play buddy.” Harlow is about 43 lbs and has only met one dog around his size; all the others have been between 5.4 lbs to 27 lbs. He does love to run around in the yard with the other pups and can play inside with them too. Harlow would do best in a family with ages from teens and up. He needs another dog for company and confidence. We don’t know what happened to this pup, but he still holds his head low when first meeting people and when people first go to pet his head. However, he loves his belly rubs and gives everyone that vulnerable part of his body to say, “I really do trust you.” Although he lacks confidence, he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body but is scared and overwhelmed by young children. When walking on a leash, he can get overly excited and reactive on leash. However, he has responded very well to a pinch collar. It’s as if it makes him feel safe. This is a training issue, and Harlow is very receptive to training with the use of positive praise. Once he gets it, moving back to a martingale collar is recommended. If interested in meeting and possibly adopting Harlow, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, we will be in contact with you. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.

Sweet Pea, est dob 3/7/25, Dachshund mix

SOUTHERN BELL ANYONE! Looking for a loyal loving companion? Sweet Pea is your girl. She came from Kentucky and was timid at first but boy oh boy did she quickly learn she could trust her foster mom. We will never know what Sweet Pea’s first year of life was like for her, but we do know what a loving dog she has become.  Sweet Pea has become an affectionate Velcro dog, following her foster mom everywhere she goes. She is the perfect companion who gives kisses, loves snuggles and has a big smile.  Sweet Pea is strong and athletic, loving to run in the yard and go on some good daily walks. She might even enjoy some agility training if that’s your thing. She has done well in her foster home with all the dogs and the new dogs coming into the home on a regular basis. However, Sweet Pea does not like to meet dogs while on leash. She can get leash frustrated, so careful introductions are important. What’s Sweet Pea’s ideal forever home? She would do best with older children, 12 and up or just adults. She would love a yard with a fence with plenty of outside time with you. She can be an only dog or have a companion given the introductions are done correctly. Sweet Pea loves her walks but needs training to work on her leash frustration or you just walk her when no one is around. She is getting better on walks every day. Baby steps as we don’t think she was ever on leash before coming to us. She is still a puppy as she’s under 2 years old, so very trainable and not set in her ways. Sweet Pea is smart! Take advantage of her intelligence and train her well. Sweet Pea is fully vetted and ready for adoption. If interested in adopting Sweet Pea, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, we will contact you to schedule a meeting. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.

Sunshine 1 yr old Female small Terrier/Chihuahua

Sunshine came to us from Kentucky. She was scared at first but warmed up to people quickly. She is in a home with several other dogs and has done fine with all of them. We are still learning about Sunshine but so far, she has been fine with everyone and everything. She does tend to be more timid, at least right now that is how she is presenting. Sunshine will be fully vetted and ready for adoption by Saturday, 6/20. If interested in meeting and adopting Sunshine, please go to our website and complete the adoption application. https://www.sainrescue.org/available-animals/adoption-application/ All applicants should be within about 50 miles of Bartlett.

Bruno Beagle mix Est DOB 7/10/25

Bruno came to us from Kentucky. We were told that he was being kept in a crate on a porch because the "finder's dog didn't like him." Bruno is decompressing in his foster home right now. He is affectionate and has attached to his foster mom quickly. He is scheduled for his neuter on 7/14. So, not surprising, he is trying to mark while inside. Bruno currently wears a belly band to help keep the home clean. He leaves it on and is cooperative with wearing it. Bruno enjoys laying on the couch with his foster mom. He is crate trained; keeps it clean and does not whine. He has been kept in his crate overnight and keeps himself dry. If interested in adopting Bruno, please go to our website and complete the adoption application. Applicants must live in Illinois and within around 50 miles from Bartlett.  https://www.sainrescue.org/available-animals/adoption-application/
