CHRISTMAS EVE PUP DOB 12/24/2016
BEAN, MALE, BLIND SHIH TZU/POODLE
Designer dog purchased at Fur Babies in Stratford to owners who neglected him to the point that he is Blind and couldn't be touch by humans for awhile! The foster mom has had him since March and Bean has come into his own. He does well with other dogs once introduced. He has even let people, other than his foster mom, pick him up without incident! Here's Bean's letter to his new family.
Hello. My name is Bean. I am a handsome pup who's looking for my forever home. I was surrendered by my owners last March. They did not treat my cataracts, so we will never know if any of my sight could have been saved. As a result of lack of treatment, I am blind. I am with my foster mom and have other doggie siblings (all small dogs) that I get along with just fine. At first, my siblings didn’t understand why I would accidentally bump into walls, couches, and even them. However, I’ve adjusted very quickly to my environment and get around with no problems. I can even do stairs, but I need to learn where they are and be protected from accidentally falling down them. I LOVE my walks around the neighborhood. I navigate the sidewalks and only need some guidance at the curbs! I wasn’t socialized, so I don’t like to meet dogs on walks. I need time to get to know them. I also need time to get to know people with whom I haven’t met. PLEASE go slowly and be patient with me. Quick movements or picking me up before I know who you are can be very scary to me. Remember, I’m blind. I don’t know if you’re going to hug me or hurt me. Once I know I can trust you, I am a sweet and docile little guy. I want to be in your presence and tend to follow you around. I like to lay on your lap or next to you while you watch TV. I will sit at your feet while you work or check emails. If you allow it, I enjoy sleeping at the foot of the bed so I can get morning belly rubs. My ideal home would be one without young children. I get along with other dogs just fine, but I need time to get to know them. I am a senior dog who would love to have an active adult or senior person/couple; that would be a wonderful fit for me. I need a family that understands I have special needs and is willing to work with me. I want a family who loves me, so I can return the love, tenfold.
If interested in adopting me, please go https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/, and complete an application for me. In the meantime, please follow me and other adoptable dogs at SAIN Rescue on Facebook and Instagram.

BOOM, est dob 10/30/24
Chihuahua/Dachshund mix from the south!
Hi everyone, my name is Boom. I came to SAIN Rescue from Kentucky. I was found abandoned in a home with my litter mate. No one knows how long we were alone and on our own. I sure am glad I'm in a warm home, warm blankets, good food and water and lots of company. I was scared at first, but only for a very very short time. My foster mom and the volunteers showed me so much love and affection, I relaxed quickly. I am in a home with other dogs and I get along with all of them. I am a puppy, just one year old, so I need guidance. I love to collect shoes but I don't chew on them. I love snuggling with humans and with the other dogs in the foster home. I do seem to need another dog in the home to keep me company, especially when the humans are not home. I also love to play with the pups in the home; so a play buddy will be welcome. In the meantime, if you are interested in adopting me, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, someone will contact you. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett. See you soon.
Harlow est dob 7/23/24 Aussie Shepherd X
Was living outside in Kentucky and survived the extreme weather.
Harlow is a southern boy. Look at his beautiful blue eyes. He came to us from Kentucky and was living outside. He is about 37 lbs. He is so sweet and gentle with his foster brother who is 6 lbs, mostly blind, and bumps into him. He doesn't react. Harlow hangs his head low when approached by humans; seems fearful like waiting to be hit and lacks confidence. He is so gentle with all the littles in his foster home, 6, 8 and 10 lbs. and people. He did fabulous at the adoption events with everyone, kids, dogs, adults, etc.... Harlow is fully vetted, heartworm negative but tested positive for tick born disease. He is currently on medication to treat this condition but should do fine once he finishes his medication. He is crate trained, although he would prefer to not be in a crate; and he is housetrained. He could be an only dog or a have a canine sibling. If interested in adopting Harlow, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, we will be in contact with you. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
Winslow, a puppy, est dob 5/29/25 Chihuahua/MinPin mix
He is enjoying living inside
After evaluation with our vet, it was learned that Winslow is a puppy, maybe about 8 months old. He is a little chihuahua mix, maybe with minature Pinscher, who is about 8 lbs. who came from Kentucky. He's been dewormed and is being treated for a urinary tract infection. When he first got to his foster home, he urinated a really long time in the back yard. He seemed to have held his urine throughout the transport while in his crate. He is timid but gentle. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. Winslow allows new people to pet him and hold him. He has adjusted to his foster home right now. He is fully vetted and had a dental cleaning with extractions. Poor Winslow still had some baby teeth that never came out that needed to be extracted. He is a gentle boy who is coming into his own. He has found his playful side with the fleece toys in his foster home. Please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application if you are interested in this very little guy. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
Bates, Lab/Shiba Inu mix dob 6/26/25, PUPPY
Gentle boy, timid at first but warming up.
Bates came to SAIN Rescue through Quincy but was originally from Missouri. Unfortunately Bates spent his puppyhood in a few different kill shelters. Dogs can smell the euthansia medication and a kill shelter is no place for any dog let alone a puppy. We believe this is what made Bates's original adjustment to his foster home so hard for him. He was fearful and resisted human contact. After all, when humans touched him, he was then trapped in a kennel. When he first came to us and entered his foster home, he was very timid and fearful but he has adjusted to his foster home. He plays well with his foster sibling and even started to play with his foster parents. He appears to have had a rough start in life as he doesn't seem used to being inside. Bates ran right into the sliding glass door a few times, thinking he was going right outside. He has since learned the door needs to be opened. Although that may seem funny, it is also sad. Bates is a puppy, who seems to spent most or all of his young life in kill shelters. He is acclimating and enjoying the warmth and affection of his foster home. He is fully vetted. If interested in adopting Bates, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
Finn est dob 4/28/25
Spaniel/Border Collie/Lab mix
MEET YOUR ULTIMATE SIDE-KICK, FINN
I am about 11 months old, a border collie/spaniel/lab mix, approx. 30 lbs from southern Illinois. I was in a kill shelter until SAIN rescued me. As a result, I am so grateful and happy to be alive. I crave affection and cherish every minute I can spend with humans. I get along well with other dogs too. I am lively, cheerful, and good-natured. I can be a ball of energy one minute, and be chillin' next to you on the couch the next minute. I am still a puppy, so I could use some training. I am learning to walk on a leash and fetch a ball. I tried to mark and have accidents in my foster home when I first got there, but then my foster mom put a belly band on me and I stopped. Once I get neutered soon, I should be good to go. My ideal home would be a family that is looking for a new member to play, snuggle, and love forever. If interested in adopting me, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed, my foster will be in contact with you. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
Lilly est dob 10/3/23 Chihuahua/Dachshund/Corgi
Lilly is an adorable and sweet 2 yr old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. She weighs about 15 lbs. and originally came to us from Kentucky. She was adopted soon after she came to SAIN Rescue in October. The adopters have chosen to return her because they said she will only attach to the mom in the family. We will update her bio as soon as we spend more time with her. She is in a foster home and quickly re-attached to her foster mom. It is unclear at this time what type of adoptive home she will need. We do know that she attaches to women without a problem. It is possible that she will need another dog who is confident to help her learn to trust everyone in the home.
HERE IS HER ORIGINAL BIO WHEN SHE FIRST COME TO SAIN RESCUE IN OCTOBER OF 2025. THIS BIO WILL BE UPDATED ONCE WE LEARN MORE ABOUT LILLY.
She’s a little skittish and scared at first until she knows she can trust you. Lilly is great around other dogs and people. She is mild mannered with a calm disposition. She loves her walks and does well on a leash. Lilly likes to run around in the yard and play with her foster siblings and then retreat to the couch for pets and snuggles. If interested in adopting Lilly, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once it is reviewed, a private meet and greet can be scheduled. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
Sweet Pea, est dob 3/7/25, Dachshund mix

Sweet Pea seeks affection from her foster and is a gentle dog. She enjoys her walks and some cuddle time. Sweet Pea is fully vetted and ready for adoption. Ideal home would be adults and teens only. She can be an only dog or with other dogs. If interested in adopting Sweet Pea, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Flip, est dob 10/7/2025, Border Collie/Rat Terrier/Lab mix
PUPPY LOVE and KISSES
Flip is a little puppy who came in at about 17 lbs at 5 months old. He is gaining weight steadily. He is estimated to be a border collie / rat terrier/lab mix but who knows. He probably will be under 30 lbs. full grown. He is a playful energetic pup who gets along with all the dogs in his foster home. He is currently using a belly band as he is working on housetraining. If taken out often, he has been able to keep his belly band dry. Flip is kept in a puppy pen or in a crate when his foster is not at home; this is for his safety as he is a puppy and can get into things. He is still a puppy and needs frequent human contact and training. If interested in adopting Flip, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/applications-contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. Once reviewed we will be in contact with you. Applicants must live in Illinois and within about 50 miles from Bartlett.
